I started business in 2014 and have tried multiple businesses over the years.
In the past month, I have:
- Made Community Connection: Networking with a variety of groups, such as family help groups, school groups, fellow entrepreneurs, and of course, my own single-parent group.
- Have Team Appreciation: Managing a team is not always easy unless you have energetic thinkers who can anticipate my moves, anticipate the market, and anticipate our ideal client. I have to say a shout-out to my fantastic team, who share opposing views in a way that even spurs me to further development or discovery!
- Operational Milestones: We officially completed our taxes and had the opportunity to deliver a ten-minute presentation for Amherst Madison in Boise. While I like bookkeeping and planning for the future, I can get behind in the daily/weekly accounting.
- So I’ve started an online bookkeeping coop in my for-profit business, Choose to Succeed Marketing LLC. Right now, we are trying out Mondays and Friday afternoons for working on all things financial in our space, being body doubles for one another with perks. Just Google C2S Work Cooperative or look up my pages on social media under Choose to Succeed or Nek’ka Migel.
- Community Partnership: We enjoyed a private tour of the new Love INC Blessing Barn, which continues to be a vital partner in connecting single moms with local resources, whether they send them to our events hosted by the Anna Grace Foundation, which I founded, or we set up life coaching sessions.
The Boise Rescue Mission has also sent clients my way. I am forever grateful to have a positive impact on their clients, and I look forward to future collaborations, helping as many single mothers as I can.
Safe Families of the Treasure Valley has sent clients my way, and we have worked together to secure needed resources for a single-parent family. This single mom was so overwhelmed with the kindness of the people in this valley.
A big shout-out as well to One Son Ministries, which has helped many people, including a single mom or two, with moving or fixing something. I have referred many single parents to them. They help without charging, and many of the single moms in my community cannot afford to pay anything right now.
And let’s not forget our donors. They help to make things happen, from emergency needs to a special gift for Christmas or Mother’s Day. So appreciate our donors. That is a great community partnership in my mind.
The Anna Grace Foundation of Idaho has a website that has a PayPal link and, during certain months, will highlight national fundraising efforts. We are always looking for monthly or quarterly donors.
- Board Member Receiving an Award: We are thrilled to send congrats to our newest board member, Kari Palmer, who was recently named the 2026 Idaho Mother of the Year! It was an honor to attend the ceremony at the Governor’s office to celebrate her and say the opening prayer. As a woman of faith, it was an honor to pray for us all as participants in this American Mother Inc. honor.
- Have you picked out a mother of the Year to represent your state, or someone who lives in another USA state? It is quite the honor. Check out American Mothers Inc, the official sponsor of Mother’s Day, with a rich history all the way back to Eleanor Roosevelt.
- Youth Outreach: I successfully wrapped up my third 3-month session, helping high school seniors complete their required public service hours. A special thank-you to Kayla P. and Principal Leslie at Pathways Education for their partnership.
- See, kids really can be helpful. These youngsters label gifts for when we set up a booth. They also researched grants to help single parents. They pulled blogs from other websites. They even did book reviews.
So I ask you, what have you started and stopped?
I started helping single parents in 2014, and it has been quite the ride. I get exhilarated when helping single parents. And then there is the back-office work. While I love marketing and bookkeeping, it’s a matter of upkeep.
Something I started and have continued since 2015
Now, don’t think that I have never wanted to throw in the towel. I have. Many times. Even when I reached the 10-year mark for helping single parents. I kept going. And will celebrate 12 years this July 2026.
And book writing can be tedious as well. So, once I got my first book published in 2019, God’s Prosperity, I went on to publish 4 more books with 2 more in the hopper. Quit! Nope! I didn’t.
A friend once said to me that I will go to my grave with one more idea. She said, I’ll be lying on my deathbed with one more book idea, or project idea, or even business idea. I like that thought. To continue creating til the day I die.
What have you started and need just a little encouragement to continue? Here it is! If you felt called to do it, don’t stop til the calling ends. If you feel yucky, like down to your bones, maybe it is time to stop…that. So what’s next? There is always a next step or next opportunity. Be patient. Rest and wait for it to come!
So, consider doing the next right thing and succeed at that!
